Abstract

Elizabeth Alexander is an acclaimed poet, essayist, and scholar who gained recognition for reading her poem "Praise Song for the Day" at President Barack Obama's first inauguration in 2009. She has published several books of poetry and nonfiction, exploring themes of race, class, and social justice.
