Abstract

This article discusses the use of microwave-assisted ionic liquid catalysis in the synthesis of pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives. The authors highlight the advantages of microwave irradiation in organic synthesis, such as uniform and selective heating and high yields. They also emphasize the benefits of ionic liquids, which have unique characteristics and can replace conventional bases in synthetic organic transformations. The authors present a protocol for the synthesis of pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives using ethyl methyl imidazolium hydroxide as a catalyst, resulting in short reaction times and high yields. They suggest that this method can be applied to the synthesis of other heterocyclic systems. [Extracted from the article]
