THE VALUE OF SIGHT: UNVEILING THE ECONOMIC RETURNS OF EYE CARE.

The article tackles the problem of unaddressed vision impairments and avoidable blindness and unveils the economic returns of eye care. It presents the case of tea pickers in Assam, India who were screened for presbyopia and provided with eyeglasses which resulted in increased productivity compared to those delayed with provision of eyeglasses. Other social and economic benefits of eye care include personal boost, increased income and ability to do daily activities, jobs or domestic duties.
