Abstract

Harmonic Search is one of the well-known metaheuristic algorithms and has been used in various fields as a tool to obtain optimization solutions. But sometimes, researchers need to modify and improve the original algorithm once it is used in their respective fields to get the best results. Modified Harmonic Search introduced a phase in generating new solution vectors to improve the Harmony Search algorithm in terms of the rate of convergence. Modified Harmony Search is still a derivative-free real parameter optimization algorithm. This paper presents the scalability study of three types of Harmony Search namely original Harmony Search, Global Harmony Search and Modified Harmony Search against ten benchmark optimization problems. Studies on the effect of parameters in the algorithm are also carried out to obtain the most accurate values so that the efficiency of the algorithm in terms of convergence speed and final accuracy is achieved.
