Abstract

This article provides construction cost indexes for various cities in the United States, including data on construction costs, building costs, common labor, skilled labor, and materials. The article also includes a table with measurements and prices for different types of pipes, ranging from 4 inches to 60 inches in diameter. The Building Cost Index indicates an annual inflation rate of 3.8% for March 2024, with a monthly increase of 0.2%. The Materials Cost Index shows a monthly increase of 0.4% and an annual escalation rate of 6.2%. Construction starts in the Boston metro area are expected to rise by 6.1% in 2024, with a predicted decrease in non-residential starts and an increase in residential starts. Prices for PVC pipe products, copper water tubing, and ductile-iron pipe have experienced monthly and yearly increases. [Extracted from the article]
