In the evaluation of autopsy and MRA technology, researchers have identified variations in the circle of Willis and classified them into different types. Based on MRA technology, the circle of Willis can be divided into four types according to the diameter of the arterial segment. Studies have revealed that different types of circle of Willis are associated with the onset, location, and recurrence of ischemic stroke. However, the correlation between different types of circle of Willis and the severity and prognosis of ischemic stroke remains controversial.
