In order to be able to teach artistic processes systematically, it is important to understand what the underlying skills are. Through a hermeneutic and phenomenological examination of the collage genre and its practice, aspects are identified in a structured approach that can be used to understand what constitutes the skill used to produce collages. The paper elaborates that collage, in addition to its genre-specific characteristics, is also suitable as an art didactic support and in this sense offers independent qualities for artistic poiesis in general.
