Abstract
- The article discusses the importance of understanding the travel time of groundwater and the movement of contaminants through aquifers. It suggests the use of a new term, "transportivity," to describe the combined influence of porosity and saturated thickness on travel time calculations. The article also explores the relationship between transportivity and the mean residence time of discharging water in groundwater systems. It concludes by drawing an analogy between transmissivity and transportivity, highlighting their fundamental properties in aquifers. [Extracted from the article]
