Abstract

The subcutaneous parasitic mite Hemimyialges macdonaldi was found in a specimen of the Orange‐bellied Parrot Neophema chrysogaster that died in captivity. A review of the host range and geographic distribution of this mite shows it is cosmopolitan and occurs in a very wide range of birds. It does not appear to be a cause of significant mortality in its hosts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
