Abstract

This study investigates the impacts of bullying on the academic performance of university students in the Cariri Metropolitan Region. Using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) methodology and primary data from 276 students at the Regional University of Cariri (URCA), victims of bullying were compared with a control group. The results show significant differences in performance coefficients, unfavorable to students who have suffered bullying. The sequelae of this phenomenon during high school have a lasting negative impact on academic performance, with possible future financial implications. These findings emphasize the need for effective preventive strategies and interventions in schools aimed at protecting students and creating a healthy school environment that fosters academic and professional success.
