Abstract
- This document is an introduction to a tribute for Charles Melman, a prominent psychoanalyst and psychiatrist who passed away in 2022. The tribute was written by colleagues from the Association Lacanienne Internationale and aims to honor and make Melman's work better known to the English-speaking world. The tribute includes three texts: one on Melman's concept of the "new psychic economy" and its connection to neoliberalism, another on his studies on hysteria, and a third on a clinical phenomenon of psychosis called the "party wall." Melman was a student of Jacques Lacan and played a significant role in the psychoanalytic community, founding the Association Lacanienne Internationale and training generations of psychoanalysts. He also made contributions to the field of psychoanalysis through his writings and involvement in socially engaged projects. [Extracted from the article]
