Abstract

Natural gas prices in the United States have reached their lowest levels in decades due to an unusually warm winter and high levels of domestic production. This is good news for consumers, who can expect lower utility bills, as well as businesses that rely on natural gas for manufacturing. However, the low prices are negatively impacting gas producers, who are reducing drilling and seeking more exports to alleviate the oversupply. While the market is expected to recover later this year and in 2025 with the opening of new export terminals, it may take months for spending cuts to significantly impact production.
