Abstract

The American Catholic Historical Association is accepting submissions for its 105th Annual Meeting in New York City in 2025. The meeting will focus on the influence of Catholicism on various aspects of society, including practices, institutions, politics, mobility, and media. They are particularly interested in topics such as marginalized Catholic communities, urban Catholicism, Catholicism in cinema and popular culture, dissent in Catholic politics, and the history of Catholicism in different time periods. The Association has also recognized scholars for their contributions to Catholic Studies, including works on Afro-Atlantic Catholics, the antiquity of the Earth in medieval and early modern Europe, the Black Catholic experience, editing in Catholic Church history, and the history of Catholicism in Mexico. The text also mentions various research grants, conferences, fellowships, and workshops related to history, religion, and Catholicism, covering topics such as the role of the Roman Catholic Church in American global power, the canonization of Mama Antula, the politics of sanctity during the papacy of Urban VIII, Catholicism and the study of religious orders, paleography, Catholicism in England, and restoration and preservation of books and paper. The website www.sangemini-bp.org provides detailed information on the application process, tuition and housing costs, and program details for those interested in these opportunities.
