Abstract

This article debunks myths surrounding radar and highlights its importance in enabling intelligent IoT applications. Radar is not limited to aircraft and self-driving cars; it can be used in a wide range of IoT applications, from security monitoring to tracking small movements. Radar sensors provide more accurate and detailed information about objects, including size, speed, direction, and behavior. They can detect even small micro-movements and can be concealed within IoT devices. Radar is robust under different environmental conditions and operates across different frequencies. It consumes little power, making it suitable for battery-operated devices, and is being integrated into small devices like head-mounted displays. Radar has diverse applications, including human detection, presence/absence detection, tracking and localization, automatic door control, elder care, fall detection, vital signs monitoring, and HVAC and lighting efficiency. Overall, radar is a powerful and essential component of next-generation IoT applications that improve our lives in various ways. [Extracted from the article]
