Abstract

The article offers outlook on the potential of food inflation to slow down in 2024. It discusses the divide among U.S. customers, those under financial stress and face constraint in real spending power, while others maintain their purchasing power. It reports the moderation of price changes by some companies and use of technology to improve their productivity and predicts a more moderate grocery and restaurant inflation, while wage gains in food service are predicted to return to normal.
