Is reliable helicobacter pylori detection in saliva possible?

Detection of H. pylori in saliva is difficult because of its lower concentration there than in the stomach and the presence in the oral cavity of uncharacterized bacteria similar to H. pylori. Therefore, a detection method of high specificity and sensitivity is required.
