WHEN EATING DIFFICULTIES AREN'T JUST PHYSICAL.

The article highlights the incorporation of social determinants of health (SDOH) into the services at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina to address the food insecurity, financial and transportation challenges facing patients with dysphagia. It presents results of a multidisciplinary research which explored the relationships between dysphagia and SDOH and discusses the health consequences of increased social risk factors, health care access and treatment adherence of patients.
