Abstract

The article explores the potential of two big-data systems, the Internet of Animals and the ICARUS project, to track animal movements and uncover hidden aspects of our planet. The Internet of Animals was used by marine biologist Austin Gallagher to discover previously unseen seagrass meadows in the Bahamas. The ICARUS project aims to create a global animal monitoring system using GPS technology and has gained traction in recent years. The system allows for real-time tracking of animals and has practical applications in weather prediction and conservation efforts. The project is now exploring the use of CubeSats for global coverage and is receiving support from organizations like NASA. [Extracted from the article]
