Abstract

Lucy Sante, a well-known writer and cultural critic, recently came out as transgender at the age of 66. Throughout her life, Sante had constructed a persona to navigate the world, but always felt trapped and unable to express her true self. Three years ago, she discovered the gender-swap function on FaceApp, which prompted her to explore her identity further and eventually come out as a woman. Sante's friends have noticed a newfound sense of freedom and happiness in her, and she has retired from her writing career to fully embrace her new life as Lucy. Her memoir, "I Heard Her Call My Name," will be published soon. [Extracted from the article]
