Abstract

This article analyzes how the forest becomes a familiar space for children in a kindergarten who go out one morning a week with their teacher to do the class outside. It presents the free time proposed to the children by the teachers which allows them to develop their child culture by relying on the affordance of the forest, in other words by setting up occupations triggered by the possibilities offered by the forest, such as climbing trees and making houses for earthworms. Through these practices, they exercise their agency, their power to act, in agreement with the teachers who wish to be attentive to the activities carried out by the children and to share this space of freedom with them.
