Numerical simulation of aerodynamic characteristics of a sharp-edged vehicle using NNW-UGKS.

NNW-UGKS, an engineering-oriented solver package based on the Unified Gas Kinetic Scheme(UGKS) for flows covering various regimes, is briefly introduced in the current paper. Then the hypersonic flowfield around a sharp-edged vehicle at high altitude is simulated with NNW-UGKS. The aerodynamic force coefficients, the pressure, the stress and heat distributions on the surface are compared with DSMC results. Good agreements have been achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
