Abstract
- This article provides a descriptive series on biphenotypic sinonasal sarcoma (BSNS), an extremely rare malignancy with limited clinical experience and data on treatment outcomes. The study reports on the clinicopathological characteristics and treatment outcomes of 16 patients with BSNS. The patients, consisting of 15 females and 1 male with an average age of 48 years, were evaluated and/or treated at the institution. The article highlights the involvement of the nasal cavity or ethmoid sinuses in all tumors, with some cases demonstrating bone invasion and other complications. The patients underwent surgical resection, with some receiving adjuvant radiotherapy. At the time of the study, no patients had experienced local recurrence or progression, and none had experienced regional or distant metastases. The article also discusses the immunomarker and FISH analysis results, which were consistent with existing case studies. The study concludes that the disease course of BSNS may be indolent based on the outcomes observed in the patients treated at the institution. [Extracted from the article]
