Abstract

Bearings faults are one of the main reasons for the problems in rotating machines. In order to reduce the unnecessary cost and the increased security of the workers and machine every industry wants an efficient maintenance technique. Thus, it becomes necessary to diagnose and detect the faults in bearings for the reliable and safe operation. This study mainly focusing the missing roller defect of tapered roller bearing. A test rig was used and experiments were conducted for two cases one was with defect and other was without defect. After performing the experiment, comparison has been done on the basis of mainly used statistical parameters for condition monitoring. All the parameters significantly responded to the defect however, skewness was found to have the maximum variation in revealing the condition of missing roller in comparison to the other parameters.
