Abstract

This article discusses the need for communication scholars to address the topics of reproductive justice and abortion in the field of education. The authors argue that these issues are often marginalized and excluded from wider academic discourse, which leaves educators ill-equipped to navigate right-wing assaults on teaching and learning about abortion. The contributors to the article provide insights into the past, present, and future of reproductive health advocacy, emphasizing the impact on marginalized groups and the need for a more nuanced understanding of abortion. The authors call for future research to examine how communication about abortion is constructed in educational settings, study the dynamics of communication outside of traditional learning spaces, and provide guidance for instructors on effectively teaching about abortion and reproductive health.
