Abstract

The U.S. failed to prevent a deadly drone attack on a military outpost in Jordan because American forces mistook the enemy drone for a U.S. drone. The attack, launched by a militia backed by Iran, killed three U.S. troops and wounded over 40 others. While the U.S. has not found evidence of direct Iranian involvement, they claim that Iran provides support to groups that target American troops. The Biden administration is considering various options for a response, including airstrikes against Iranian-backed militias. Iran has denied any involvement in the attack and called the accusations baseless. [Extracted from the article]
