Abstract

The International Journal of Dairy Technology has announced the appointment of two new Editorial Board members: Prof Ammar Mohammed Hamood Al‐Farga from the University of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Dr Norah O'Shea from Teagasc Food Research Centre, Ireland. The journal will also be publishing a Special Issue on the digitalization of processing in the dairy industry, based on articles presented at the SDT 80th Anniversary Conference. In addition, the journal will introduce new article submission categories in 2024, including invited reviews, mini‐reviews, invited mini‐reviews, and case studies. The Editor's Choice Article for the February 2024 issue is titled "Consumption of mite‐ripened cheese did not impair the physiological status of both the non‐immunosuppressed and immunosuppressed mice." The study, conducted by Michelle Carvalho and colleagues from Brazil, evaluated the effects of feeding cheeses ripened with Tyrophagus putrescentiae mites on the physiological status of mice. While the study found that consuming cheese ripened with these mites is potentially safe, it could not rule out the possibility of mite-induced allergenic reactions in sensitive individuals.
