Abstract
- This paper proposes an extended virtual element method based on the combination of the extended finite element method and the virtual element method on interface-unfitted meshes for solving elliptic interface problems. The well-posedness of the discrete problem is shown and the optimal error estimate is derived, which is independent of the location of the interface relative to the mesh and the contrast between the diffusion coefficients. Numerical experiments verify the theoretical results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
