Abstract

In this article, I aim to survey the work of Roberto Bolaño in order to explain an aspect often overlooked in his writing: the existence of a dyschrony, a temporal friction between the characters' neoliberal present and their militant revolutionary past. This struggle exposes a discomfort in the face of a temporality that has rendered the characters obsolete, seeking to forget them and leave their past behind. However, this same discomfort underlines the tensions and contradictions between different historical moments. In a social and political context of amnesia, which aims to establish a monochronic narrative, Bolaño rebels against this forced historical homogeneity by reopening and questioning it.
