Abstract
- The study aimed to analyze the literature about the development of the executive functions (EF) in different periods of the evolutionary maturity in Colombian schoolchildren. For this purpose, several databases were consulted like Google Scholar, Scielo, Scopus, Pubmed, Sciencedirect, Dialnet and Redalyc. The search of the articles was carried out using Boolean operators (AND OR, AND NOT) with keywords such as executive functions, Colombian scholars, development of executive functions in scholars, executive functions in students. 40 articles were selected in order to do the literature review, which met the inclusion criteria. Results revealed the relationship between the development of executive functions and the evolutionary maturity in Colombian scholars. In addition to this, the evidence has shown that not only the age is a determining factor for the development of EF, but also socioeconomic status, the educational level of the parents and the school that the scholar are attending are important for the executive functioning. Thereby, it was concluded that it is relevant to know how the EF are developed in the Colombian learners with the final purpose to strengthen academic skills within the school context through the design of curricular plans and public policies that promote the strengthening of these capacities.
