Abstract

The article discusses the expression and function of intracellular complement (complosome) in various types of human adult bone marrow-derived stem cells. It challenges the previous understanding that complement components are only synthesized in the liver and released into circulation. The study shows that complosome elements are expressed at the protein level in lymphocytes, innate immune cells, and different types of stem cells. The authors suggest that complosome may play a role in regulating stem cell specification and that further research is needed to understand its activation and potential implications for tissue and organ regeneration.
