Abstract

Recently, with the advance of agriculturalization, industrialization and urbanization, pollutants such as pesticides, veterinary drugs, heavy metal ions and dyes emitted from various industries have brought great harm to the ecological environment and human production and life. Therefore, it is important to adopt green and efficient methods to remove pollutants. Metal-organic framework (MOFs) is a kind of porous crystalline material composed of metal ions and organic ligands, which has the advantages of adjustable pore size and large specific surface area, and has a wide range of applications in various fields. However, while monometallic MOFs have excellent performance but small pores and few active sites, bimetallic MOFs formed by introducing a second metal ion have the advantages of abundant pores, large specific surface area, tunable structure and abundant active sites. Recently, they have been widely used in catalysis, storage, drug loading, and transportation. The increased adsorption sites and enhanced synergistic effects make the bimetallic organic frameworks materials potentially promising for applications in the field of adsorption. Therefore, this paper summarizes recent research progress on bimetallic MOFs, discusses the challenges that face in terms of synthesis and applications, and looks forward to their further development, providing references for the fabrication of bimetallic MOFs and applications in pollutant adsorption.
