Abstract

[Display omitted] Cyclohex-2-enones have aroused great interest among chemists due to their wide natural occurrence and readily accessible functionalizations. Therefore, multiple synthetic methods have been developed for the construction of the cyclohex-2-enone ring. It has been found that some derivatives with a cyclohex-2-enone structure as the core nucleus exhibit a wide range of pharmacological activities, including anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative and anti-neuropathic properties. In this mini review, we summarize the synthetic methodology and exploration of biological activities of cyclohex-2-enone derivatives based on literatures especially reported in recent several years, which provides a reference for the comprehensive and systematic study of these compounds for medicinal purposes.
