Abstract
- A recent study published in Lasers in Medical Science compared the effectiveness of ozone treatment and low-level laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), in reducing postoperative pain following root canal treatment. The study found that ozonated water exhibited a similar effect on pain reduction as PBM, suggesting that ozone treatment may be a viable alternative to PBM. However, the use of ozone in dentistry is still controversial and further research is needed to determine the optimal doses and administration protocols. The study also highlighted the importance of standardized pain evaluation methods and the potential anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects of ozone. Overall, the authors concluded that low-dose ozone could be a safe and effective treatment for periodontic diseases. [Extracted from the article]
