MEMÓRIAS DA GUERRA DA TRÍPLICE ALIANÇA (1864-1870) EM LA ILUSTRACION PARAGUAYA (1888-1889).

The paraguayan illustrated magazine La Ilustracion Paraguaya (1888) emerged in the midst of the development of a "more plural" press, concerned with debating the course of Paraguay after the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870). The journal showed constant concern in building a written and visual memory of names/faces considered important in national history. This text seeks to analyze the relationship between the images (portraits) and texts (biographical accounts) (MITCHELL, 2009) presented in the publication. The end is to problematize the role of the illustrated press in Paraguay after the War, as well as the proposed discourse around selected characters, among which are the names of men associated since the country's Independence process, including military personnel who acted in the conflict, senior officials from the Paraguayan state, to presidents who governed the country.
