Abstract

Viscoelastic composites are widely used in engineering applications, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of their effective response to external loads. This study employs peridynamic computational homogenization theory to investigate the influence of phase contrast and inclusion shape on the effective properties of these composites. By focusing on a two-phase matrix-inclusion composite material and considering circular and elliptical inclusion shapes, this study explores the relationship between these factors and the resulting effective behavior. The simulation results demonstrate that the use of circular inclusions result in isotropic effective response of the composites for all values of phase contrasts, while elliptical inclusions lead to an increase in anisotropy as phase contrast increases.
