Abstract

The editorial published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute discusses the urgent implications of the joint crisis of climate change and biodiversity loss for cancer control. Climate change can lead to disruptions in access to cancer care and worse outcomes, while the physical, psychological, and socioeconomic consequences of cancer diagnosis and treatment can increase vulnerability to climate hazards. The industrialization of the food system, which is a major driver of biodiversity loss, also poses health threats to all people, including increased cancer risk. The editorial calls for action from oncology professionals to address the climate and biodiversity crisis and its impact on cancer control. [Extracted from the article]
