Abstract

To address the global energy and environmental crisis, advanced energy storage systems with superior electrochemical performance have seen rapid growth. Electrochemical properties of selected electrode materials have direct impact on the performance of energy storage technologies. Two dimensional (2D) structures are considered promising materials for energy storage systems because of their unique structure and outstanding electrochemical characteristics. Therefore, we reported the facile synthesis of WS2 nanosheet as an electrode material in a storage system via liquid exfoliation method. The increased specific capacitance and electrical conductivity of the WS2 nanosheet electrode can be attributed to active WS2 nanosheets with a large specific surface area and their efficient conducting pathways. As a result, the WS2 nanosheet may be considered a potential candidate for use in the future energy storage field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
