Abstract
- We study the magnetotransport properties of Ni-doped WTe2. Single crystals of W0.9Ni0.1Te2 are prepared by the self-flux method using Te as a flux element. The purity of the as-prepared sample is confirmed using x-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. Electrical resistivity data exhibits metallic nature of the sample. A non-saturating magnetoresistance (MR) has been observed at 4K which is found to be as high as 1.13×104% at 11.5T field (H). Quadratic dependance of MR in H provides an evidence of charge compensation in the as prepared compound. Shubnikov-de Hass (SdH) oscillations with beating pattern is observed at H ≥ 5T. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) of these quantum oscillations reveals four oscillation frequencies corresponding to two hole and two electron pockets. Non-trivial nature of the bands is demonstrated from the Landau level fan diagram. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
