Abstract
- In this study, the optimum panel tilt angles were determined monthly in order to benefit from solar energy more effectively for solar energy applications to be carried out in Iğdır province. For this purpose, the monthly average daily total solar radiation (HT) values on the solar panels were calculated according to the tilt angle of the panel. The tilt angle was changed from 0° to 90° in 1° increments for each month. The angle giving the highest HT value in each month was taken as the optimum angle. Then, the HT values at monthly optimum angles and the HT values obtained when the panels are placed horizontally, with latitude angle, latitude angle ±15° and seasonal average optimum angle were compared. While the optimum angle was obtained as 0° in June, it was observed that the optimum angle was 58° in January and December. Placing the panels with monthly optimum angles provided 0.02% to 55.61% more solar radiation to reach the surface compared to other conditions. Compared to the latitude angle, an energy gain of 13.35%, 20.89% and 17.46% was achieved in May, June and July, respectively. The lowest solar radiation gain was obtained in October, compared to the seasonal average optimum angle, and the highest gain was obtained in January, compared to the placing horizontally throughout the year.
