Abstract

Background: Exclusive mother's milk (ASI) is needed to meet optimal nutrition for babies during the first 6 months of life, only breast milk. There are various kinds of allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema, and allergic rhinitis which can arise if there are triggers. Until now there are still not many studies regarding the relationship of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of allergic diseases that have been examined using the ISAAC questionnaire. To strengthen previous research, research will be carried out which is expected to provide an overview of the prevalence of decreased incidence of allergies with risk factors for consuming exclusive breastfeeding at the age of 0-6 months in students aged 13-14 years at SMPN 3 Surakarta by filling out the ISAAC questionnaire. The purpose of this study was to determine whether exclusive breastfeeding can reduce the incidence of disease and determine the prevalence of allergic disease in SMPN 3 Surakarta. Method: This type of research uses quantitative research. Survey research with a cross sectional approach design. The location of the research to be carried out is students aged 13-14 years at SMPN 3 Surakarta in March 2023. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling. Obtained the optimal number of samples at least 71 respondents. All data were obtained using the ISAAC questionnaire and processed using chi-square data analysis using the SPSS ver 23 tool. Result: Based on the results of the chi-square test, this study showed that there was a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding consumption and a decrease in the incidence of allergic diseases. Conclusion: there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding with a decrease in the incidence of allergic diseases in SMPN 3 Surakarta students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
