Abstract
- The article discusses the limitations of the Messier catalog, a famous catalog of deep-sky objects published by French astronomer Charles Messier in 1781. The catalog originally included 103 objects, but with additions from other astronomers, it now contains 109 objects. The author highlights several objects that they believe should have been included in the catalog, such as the Leo Triplet, the Needle Galaxy, and the Double Cluster. The article suggests that there are many other objects in the sky that are easier to observe than those in the Messier catalog, and encourages readers to explore beyond the catalog.
