Abstract
- The social interaction between the "white man" and indigenous peoples took place following a racist colonial pattern, which continues to reverberate today. The colonization process inoculated the cells of our society with the racist virus, which has undergone successive mutations and adapted to new situations. Despite the flexibility and historical persistence of racism against indigenous peoples, this is still a subject that has been little researched in Brazil. This work presents a review of the literary scope on racism against indigenous peoples. Specifically, the theories that focus on the phenomenon are identified, analyzing their forms of expression and verifying the possibilities of investigation and intervention on the subject. The literature search was carried out in the databases of the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, American Psychological Association, Virtual Health Library, Capes and SciElo journals, using the terms "racismo and indígenas" or "racismo and índios". A total of three Theses/Dissertations and seven Articles were found, with only one empirical article. The results indicate that the theme is little addressed and dispersed, that is, analyzed by a great diversity of areas, which focus on different forms of expression of racism with little conceptual and empirical depth. It concludes by emphasizing the need for further studies, given the demonstration of its importance so that science does not reproduce racist and invisibilization attitudes against indigenous peoples.
