Abstract

This study aimed to explore the relationship between the proactive coping behaviors of Chinese social workers, the perceived importance of organizational job resources, and work engagement within the job demands-resources model. The participants were 423 licensed social workers. They completed self-report questionnaires on proactive coping behavior, organizational job resources, and work engagement. Following structural equation modeling, results indicated that organizational job resources and work engagement had significant associations with proactive coping behaviors. Moreover, proactive coping behaviors differed by demographic variables such as age, job position, and work experience. Measures for facilitating the proactive coping behaviors of social workers were discussed and recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
