Abstract

The transportation sectors all over the world are increasing rapidly due to which problems related to depletion of fossil fuel and several environmental pollutions are also increasing. All these increase the awareness for developing and adapting a renewable transportation alternative. In which electric bicycles have evolved significantly with technological advancements in the last few decades. However, the comfort of cyclists has received high attention in the last few years according to several scientists and researchers. This paper tries to identify the ergonomic problems and how they can be solved or reduced. The improvements mainly include the mechanical parts such as seating, handle position and overall design of the e-bicycle considering human factors. Addressing this issue on an e-bicycle might lead to an overall improvement for riding quality as well as comfort of the rider. Since a lot of problems such as discomfort, and musculoskeletal disorders lead to chronic injuries which can be solved by accurate e-bicycle design. This research paper aims for e-bicycle comfortable riding posture and design of handlebars and seat height according to the rider's position. This study also investigates the effect of e-bicycle seat and handle designs on seat pressure and perceived stability in riders using a field-based study methodology. All the modifications are suggested considering the average Indian body type. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
