Abstract

The article "Simply Clarice" by Mary Luz Estupiñán analyzes the writing of Clarice Lispector and its impact on literature. Estupiñán's book, "Simply Clarice," explores the simplicity of Lispector's writing and her resistance to European influences. Through different chapters, the book examines the masks, alterations, obliqueness, and machines present in Lispector's writing. Estupiñán uses the figures of maids and employees in Lispector's chronicles, stories, and novels to understand these alterations and the desire to be "the other of the other." The book raises questions about the meaning of reviewing a book and focuses on the real friendship with the author and the imaginary friendship with Clarice. [Extracted from the article]
