Developing approaches to forecasting volumes of passenger air transportation in post-pandemic period.

The article discusses specifics and trends of the world air transportation market. The main focus is on the analysis of influences of the covid-19-induced crisis on the civil aviation. The problems of modernization of the Russian-made aircraft fleet on competitive terms are briefly considered: it is specified that Russia is characterized by a strong dependence of trunk air carriers on foreign suppliers of aviation, that being amid an increase in the development of Russian domestic aviation industry in the category of SSJ-100 aircraft, SSJNG lines and MC-21. Apart from that, the article also provides the factors influencing the general rate of passenger satisfaction with the flight. In conclusion, the authors propose a solution to the problem of choosing an optimal type of aircraft for a particular airline in the form of a model for optimization based on the projected demand for air transportation. It is also pointed out that the main dependences used for building econometric models of demand for air transportation are the following linear, multiplicative and mixed models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
