Abstract

The definition of heavy-weight traffic is given. It is considered at what ratio of weights of heavy and "ordinary" trains, considering the removal coefficient, the introduction of heavy traffic increases the carrying capacity of the railway section. Heavy-duty traffic can be carried out by increasing the load on the axle or without increasing this load-increasing the length of the train. In each of these possibilities, it is necessary to check the railway track for stability: in the first case, for an increased load from the wheel on the rail, in the second case, for an increased force pulse. A heavyweight has a much higher energy cost for traction. However, two circumstances mitigate these costs: a heavy train moves more smoothly-it has less "acceleration noise", and hence traction costs, and with an increased axle load, the main specific resistance to traffic decreases. When passing the curve considered by the train, especially if the radius is less than 500 m, it is necessary to consider the effect of "girth". On lines electrified with direct current on the rises, a large drain current may appear, resulting in electrocorrosion of the sole of the rail on the sleeper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
