Methodology for determining the weight of a freight car by weighing on crane scales.

The article is devoted to the conclusion of the calculation formulas of the methodology for determining the tare weight of a freight car in the conditions of a car repair depot, using crane scales. From consideration of equilibrium equations of the body of a freight car in a weighing process, calculation formulas are derived that allow to determine the tare weight of a freight car by alternately weighing two sides of the car. The application of this approach makes it possible to use a crane for weighing a wagon with a load capacity less than the tare weight of a freight car. This paper also presents the results of verification of the proposed calculation formulas. The presented results show a sufficiently high degree of convergence of the data obtained by calculation and the results of field experiments, which confirms the correctness of the calculation methodology presented in this work and its applicability in the real practice of a railway freight car repair company.
