Abstract

The present article is the result of a research with the following problem: to what extent the learning of students in the process of alphabetization and literacy was compromised by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic in the formation of writers and readers? The research aimed to analyze this process, during 2020, 2021 and 2022, in public schools in two municipalities in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and the implications for the children's formation process. To achieve the proposed objective, an investigation was carried out in six public schools using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews as data collection instruments. The analyzes showed that literacy was compromised with the Remote Emergency Education, by impairing reading and writing skills and the constitution of readers and writers, with regard to the absence of face-to-face interaction and pedagogical mediations that consider the learning contexts and subjectivity of child.
