Analysis of factors affecting protection of distribution system with distributed generation sources.

Distributed Generation (DG) sources have started becoming preferable sources of power in distribution system. DG sources gives advantages like reduction in losses, reduction in unit generation cost, improvement in voltage regulation etc. In spite of these advantages, DG sources impose disadvantages like increment in fault current, alteration in system parameters and majorly in terms of change in relay coordination. This paper presents detail analysis of factors affecting system parameters like current and voltage which are the reasons behind the alteration of relay coordination. Paper also represents analysis of factors affecting relay coordination considering simple source and dynamic sources like synchronous generator and induction generator. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
